Carmel Girls’ High School , Samlong, Ranchi, Jharkhand

Carmel Girls ‘High School was established on 21 January, 1968. It is situated in Samlong area, in the Arch Diocese of Ranchi.

The main aim of the school is to educate the Catholic tribals and the marginalised girl child of the locality who are economically and spiritually deprived and to make them fully human and responsible citizens of the country and society. We instil in them deep faith in God, spiritual and moral values, honesty, dignity of labour, hard work and respect for life are instilled in the students.

On 23 June, 1976 the school got the official approval from Bihar Secondary Education Board to open Classes VII to X with the permanent recognition.

After the bifurcation of the state, the school was affiliated to Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) and got the minority declaration on 16-6-1978.

At present there are 778 students from Classes IV to X and 21 teaching and nonteaching staff. Our teachers are committed, qualified, hard working, co- operative and dedicated. They take great interest in the welfare of the students. There is a team spirit among them. The medium of instruction is Hindi. The children pay minimum fees according to the Government rules.

The school has a well furnished computer laboratory, library, science laboratory and a hall to conduct programmes. The school conducts Personality Development classes, Career Counselling classes for class X, in the school and the students also participate in inter-school competitions, science and art exhibitions.

During the morning assembly the children highlight the good social customs of the society and festivals which are part of the activities of our school. During social service week students are encouraged to contribute things of daily use for the poor and needy as per their means. This is to instill in them the love for their neighbour, irrespective of caste and creed.
