Carmel School is an all – girl Catholic institution located in Ranchi in the State of Jharkhand, known as the land of the Adivasis. The School aims at the education of the surrounding Catholic tribal communities and extends its service to the members of the other community as much as to its extent possible. The School stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation, based on the love of God and the service of people, as modelled on Jesus Christ.

It is an English Medium School affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, with Hindi as the second language.

Carmel School Ranchi was established in 1968 in the same campus of Carmel Girls’ High School, Hindi Medium, with the pressing need of the locality for an English Medium school. Carmel School started with a few students for the upper and the lower Kindergarten both for boys and girls in the corridors of the old residence. As the years passed, with the increase in number of students the need for more classrooms necessitated the expansion of classrooms and so the Primary Block was constructed.

With the demand for higher sections, the High School building was constructed adjacent to the K.G Block. The Sisters worked very hard and obtained the ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Government of Jharkhand on 21 April, 2003 and began the documentation work for affiliation from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. With the arrival of a Boys’ School in the opposite campus by the Franciscan Missionary Brothers, the admission of boys into our School was gradually closed and the boys after Standard V moved out to the neighbouring schools.

The School has a well equipped library, spacious science(Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Maths and Geography laboratories, a well furnished computer laboratory, a large auditorium and an audio-visual room. At present there are 46 staff members both teaching and non-teaching catering to 1433 students from KG to Class X .

God blessed the selfless work of our Sisters and thus Carmel School became a full fledged High School and soon received the permanent affiliation from the CISCE , New Delhi in the year 2005.
