Carmel Niwas, Kallianpur - 2017
Isaiah 43:4 “You are precious in my sight. You are honoured and I love you. I will give people in exchange for you and nations for your life.”
This precious and everlasting love of God was revealed to the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, Northern Province in fulfilling their sincere desire to have a study house for the candidates hailing from Karnataka and the neighbouring States. God in his providence planned that it should come into existence in the newly elected Diocese of Udupi and in the vicinity of the beautiful Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur. The new sapling is named ‘Carmel Niwas’. It was inaugurated on 9 June, 2015, by the then Provincial Superior Sr. Lily D’ Souza, A.C., Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza blessed the house and prayed for God’s blessings on the new mission.
Sister Marie Jane, the Sister-in charge with Sisters Arathi and Assumpta Crasta were the members of the new community. Sister Assumpta Crasta was a full time teacher in Mount Rosary High School. Sister Arathi continued her zeal for the mission by recruiting candidates to continue the work begun by Venerable Mother Veronica. We thank and praise God for the selfless service of our sisters. Sister Laveena served the community for one year and took keen interest in vocation promotion and took charge of the YCS of the parish. Sister Marie Jane taught English grammar and value education in Mount Rosary High School. Three candidates namely Japmalai, Rose Mary and Joy Sumitha completed their P.U.C. and joined the formal candidature. At present we have five candidates, Nathalina, Velangani, Josephine Priya, Sushmitha and Stella Priya doing their first year P.U.C. in Milagris College, Kallianpur. At present Sisters Marie Jane, Amika and Smita are members of the community. All of us serve as special ministers of the Eucharist, attend BCC meetings, visit families, pray with the sick and lonely, are in -charge of YCS and missionary children’s association. Sister Marie Jane is a link of CRI Kallianpur Zone. She organizes meetings and exposure programmes for the members. Sister Amika maintains the accounts of the house and Deepalaya Trust. Sisters Amika and Smita are students doing their studies in M.A. and B.A. respectively. They involve themselves in vocation promotion. May God bless our hard labour of love. All the sisters cooperate in giving an all round development to the aspirants who come here. We give them sufficient opportunity to grow in faith, knowledge of the scripture and to reach out to the needy.
We thank and praise God for all his blessisngs. We are grateful to Sister Susheela, our Superior General, Sister Lily D’Souza, our Provincial of the Northern Province, Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev.
