Bhagalpur “The Silk City” is historically, culturally, geographically as well as politically very important. Geographically it is located on the banks of the holy river which is a part of our religious dogmas. Educationally speaking, Bhagalpur itself has a University and also has the oldest and best Agricultural College, Engineering College and of course a Medical College. The city has various Government and semi – Government run schools as well as few convents, which are carrying on the work of not only imparting knowledge to the students but also catering to the all round development of their personality.

Carmel School, which is the pioneer in imparting convent education to the youth of Bhagalpur was opened on 23 June, 1958, by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel. It is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, (CISCE) New Delhi, to prepare students for the ICSE and ISC Examinations.

The medium of instruction is English but very special emphasis is given to Hindi, the national language, together with the other subjects: Sanskrit, History, Geography, Social Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Training, Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Fine Arts, etc. The school has well equipped laboratories for science, modern computer labs, smart classes. Every teacher is equipped with the use of the tabs for better teaching –learning process, and library to allow the pupils to develop and foster their innate talents and keep abreast with the modern education from the very beginning. The school lays a great deal of stress on character formation and development of spiritual, ethical and moral values which are imparted regularly to students through the teaching of Value Education.
